While shooting wedding details with Tyson at this September 2025 wedding in a magical, little, West Virginia valley, I backed up one extra step to get one more detail in the frame…
There was a bench in the way, so I stepped to the right to get around it…that step landed in thin air and I went down…
It was about a 3 foot drop into the creek where my right foot landed in the mud and I remained upright…but, my left knee had twisted at an unnatural angle and I was afraid to move.
Hearing my exclamation, Tyson ran over and lifted me out of the mud onto firmer ground, where he proceeded to hold me up as I passed out…
Thankfully, no one was around at this point, so I was able to recover in privacy without causing a scene and was soon able to limp around and photograph details and bridal prep while Tyson ran out and bought me a knee brace.
That knee brace was a game changer.
Between the support of the knee brace and adreneline, I was able to photograph the whole day, which I would describe as one of my top five weddings I have ever photographed!
Once we were past all the highlights of the day and relaxing into the reception, I eventually came clean to my clients about why my skirt was ripped and all the drama they missed while Tyson and I were down in that valley at the start of the day.

I’m so thankful Ty was there through it all and able to make the 8.5hr drive home the next day.
I hope to avoid any future behind-the-scenes wedding day drama. But, am glad he was the one who now gets to make fun of me for it.
